Fizik Arione 00 Saddle Information

There was a time when it was difficult to find a saddle that hit below the magic weight of 150 grams without being an ass-hatchet. Now all you need to do is spring for the Fizik Arione 00 Saddle and you’ll be sitting pretty for hours on end.

You may have grown up with clunky-looking, heavy saddles thinking that would be the required tradeoff for comfort, but the Arione 00 makes no such demands either on the weight scales or your bum. Weighing just 140 grams, it still manages to maintain a comfort level you thought you could only achieve with old-school leather saddles. The magic is in the shape and flexibility of the Arione 00. The full carbon double shell construction uses the genius Fizik Wing Flex technology to ensure that the saddle will move with you pedal stroke by pedal stroke. The Wing Flex on both sides of the saddle moves with your legs pedaling motion to give just when and where you need it, but without sacrificing any of the support you need while putting the power down to your pedals. This design forces the saddle to adapt to the rider rather than the rider having to adapt to the saddle, which is one major reason why so many different rider types fit the Arione. Though Fizik does try to help guide customers with their Spine Concept, don’t rule the Arione out just because you are honest enough with yourself to admit you probably don’t bend as well as you used to. The saddle is covered in Fizik’s Black Microtex 00 Design which is durable while retaining an elegant, almost leather look and feel to it.

The Arione 00 Saddle uses their distinctive Mobius carbon 7x9 mm rails. If there was once a time that you were afraid to trust such an important component as the saddle rails to a carbon construction, know that you no longer need to worry since Fizik carbon rails have withstood cols and cobbles with never a hitch. You shouldn’t need to be concerned about your seatpost being compatible with the Fizik, since anything vertical clamping will work with a 7x9 rail. By now the industry has gone to a standard of 7x9 carbon rails, to insure compliance. And if your seatpost clamp doesn’t fit, ret assured nearly every manufacturer of seatposts produces an adapter for Mobius carbon rails. So that means that pretty much whatever you ride, you can get it to work with the Fizik braided carbon rails. If you are unfamiliar with the term “Mobius”, imagine taking a paper strip and giving it a half-twist, and then joining the ends of the strip together to form a loop, but then imagine a carbon-braided material instead of paper. It functions so well in this application because a one-piece Mobius rail distributes the weight from rider to saddle more evenly. Importantly, there is more surface contact with the Mobius rail, as opposed to a traditional rail that meets the saddle at just two points.

At 300x132 mm, the Arione saddles are the longest and narrowest in the Fizik road line. Though they are designed for riders who are especially flexible, the fact that you have so much room to move fore and aft on the saddle makes them uniquely suited to riders of all different levels of bendability.
